Celebrating the Legacy of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Founded on December 4, 1906, at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. holds the distinction of being the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African American men. The fraternity was conceived by seven visionary founders known as the “Seven Jewels” who were determined to create an organization that would advocate for the rights and dignity of African Americans. Alpha Phi Alpha’s mission has always been to develop leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence, and provide service and advocacy for our communities.

Rich History and Foundation

Alpha Phi Alpha’s history is marked by numerous significant contributions to civil rights and social justice. Members have been at the forefront of major movements and initiatives aimed at securing equal rights for African Americans. Notable members include Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., W.E.B. Du Bois, and Thurgood Marshall. The fraternity’s programs such as “Go-to-High School, Go-to-College” and “A Voteless People is a Hopeless People” reflect their commitment to education and civic engagement.

Acts of Service

Alpha Phi Alpha’s dedication to service is evident in its many community initiatives. The fraternity has been involved in mentoring youth, promoting academic achievement, and encouraging voter participation. Programs like Project Alpha, which focuses on male responsibility, teenage pregnancy prevention, and sexually transmitted diseases, demonstrate the fraternity’s proactive approach to addressing critical issues within the community.Donec vitae sapien ut libero venenatis faucibus.
